PCB Water Adventures - Top Species in February

Master the Emerald Coast: Your Target Species Guide

Whether you are looking to haul in a limit of Red Snapper in Panama City Beach or sight-fish for massive Redfish in the flats, the waters surrounding PCB Water Adventures offer world-class diversity. From the rocky structures of the St. Andrews Jetties to the deep-water reefs of the Gulf of Mexico, we target the most sought-after game fish in Florida. Our trips are designed to put you on the meat, whether that means battling a "Reef Donkey" (Amberjack) that tests your gear or stalking the silver king himself, the Tarpon, during his summer migration.

Inshore Giants and Offshore Legends

Success on the water starts with knowing what’s running and where they are hiding. In the spring and fall, we focus on the Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel runs that ignite the nearshore waters with adrenaline-pumping action. For those seeking table fare, our bottom-fishing excursions for Gag Grouper and Vermilion Snapper are a staple, especially when the water temps are just right. We don’t just take you fishing; we teach you the patterns of these species so you can understand the bite like a local pro.

The clock is ticking on some of our most popular seasons! Red Snapper season is the "main event" of the summer and dates fill up months in advance, while the winter Sheepshead bite offers some of the most technical and rewarding fishing of the year. Don't miss out on the peak window for your favorite species. Every trip with PCB Water Adventures includes high-end tackle, bait, and local expertise—all you need to do is show up ready to reel. Check our live availability and lock in your adventure today!

Panama City Beach Fishing: Your Questions Answered

What is the best season to catch Red Snapper in Panama City Beach?

The Red Snapper season in Florida typically peaks during June and July, with occasional weekend extensions into the fall for state waters. This is the busiest time of year, as these prized reef fish are both hard-fighting and delicious. Because the season is strictly regulated and short-lived, we recommend booking your summer charter at least 60 days in advance to secure your spot on the boat.

Which fish are most active during the winter months in PCB?

While the air gets cooler, the inshore bite stays hot. From December through February, we target Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Speckled Trout. Sheepshead are particularly fun to catch around pilings and jetties using fiddler crabs. This is a great time for "meat hunters" looking to fill a cooler when the summer crowds have vanished.

What is the best bait for catching Redfish at the St. Andrews Jetties?

For the "Bull" Redfish found in the deeper pass, live shrimp, pinfish, or cut mullet are the gold standard. During the fall run, these fish become highly aggressive. We often use a heavy Carolina rig to keep the bait near the bottom rocks where the big Reds are patrolling. If you're ready to test your drag against a 30-pounder, now is the time to plan an inshore trip.

When can I catch Mahi Mahi or King Mackerel offshore?

Mahi Mahi (Dorado) and King Mackerel are most abundant when the water temperatures climb into the high 70s and 80s, generally from late May through October. We target these fast-moving predators by trolling colorful skirts or live cigar minnows. These trips are high-action and perfect for anglers who love the thrill of a screaming reel and acrobatic leaps.

How do I book a trip to target a specific fish with PCB Water Adventures?

Booking your target species trip is easy! Visit our Booking Page and select the trip length that fits your goals (we recommend at least 6 hours for offshore snapper or grouper). In the "Notes" section of your reservation, mention which species you are most interested in catching. Captain Jim will review the current tides and weather to tailor the trip specifically to those species.
